Omega-3 Focus is committed to addressing the following three questions:
While omega-3 fatty acids are gaining recognition for their potential health benefits, some conflicting results from experimental studies have led to confusion among the public and health professionals about the true impact of omega-3. Omega-3 Focus will address what the challenges of omega-3 research are, why the findings to date have been inconsistent, and how we can carry out studies that demonstrate the true health effects of omega-3.
Both omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids are important essential fatty acids for human health, but they often have opposing effects on pathophysiological processes. The ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 in the tissue may therefore have important health implications. Omega-3 Focus will address why the omega-6/omega-3 ratio has changed over the past decades, whether the shift in the omega-6/omega-3 ratio is related to modern health problems, and how balancing the tissue omega-6/omega-3 ratio can impact various health conditions and diseases.
Balancing the tissue omega-6/omega-3 ratio may be a safe and effective approach to solving clinical problems. Omega-3 Focus will explore how current omega-3 research findings can be translated into clinical applications, how we can develop more effective omega-3-based interventions for prevention and treatment of health problems, and how the tissue omega-6/omega-3 ratio may be used as a biomarker to evaluate disease risk and monitor intervention efficacy.
